How to make a new post

You can click on the + sign at the right hand side of this page in WordPress to select various elements.

Most of the time I expect you will want to start with a paragraph like this. You can either click on the + sign or just start typing.

Then you will probably want an image…

Click the + sign, then image, and you will get four options.
1. Upload – this will be an image from your own laptop.
2. Select image – this will probably be from your own media library here, which you can upload pictures to.
3. Generate image – this will make some AI nonsense!
4. Insert from URL. I think this might be the one you want to use most often. To do this start by right clicking on the picture that you want to insert, and then selecting “Copy Image Address” from the dropdown menu. Then come back to the draft post in WordPress, click on the “Insert from URL” button, and paste in the address of the image you want in your post. Press enter and the picture will appear in your post. You can align it using the button at the top of this page, and you can add a link to the picture as well if you want.

If the picture is too big you can resize it by clicking on it and then dragging from the edge of the photo to make it smaller. If you hold the shift key as you drag the photo will stay in the same proportions.

Click “Save draft” every now and again! (It’s at the top right of the page). Once the draft post has been saved you’ll see a button at the bottom of this page that lets you see a preview. It’s worth doing this before you press the “Publish” button (again at the top right of this page), to make sure that everything is the way you want it to be.

You will also want to put in links. This is easy too. At the top of this page you can see a button called “Link” if you hover your cursor over it. The button looks like this:

Click on that button and a box will appear that you can paste or type the link (called a URL) into. For example here’s a link to German Shepherd Rescue Elite.

If you want to add some emojis anywhere in the post press Control + Command + Spacebar and then a box full of emojis will pop up. You can search in that box too 😊 🐶 🐱

Finally, the social media sharing buttons will appear automatically at the bottom of your post.
